- Hello and congratulations to the Utah guys on your new forum!
On behalf of 5280cobalts we wish you guys all the best with this new awesome looking site!
I feel a multi-state cruise coming on...
I also wanted to take the time to congratulate you in your endeavor... Speaking from experience, getting a forum off the ground can be trying at first... but with patience and dedication it can be done, and is SUPER rewarding.
Here are some quick tips we did over in Colo to get 5280 off the ground.
- Create an eye catching logo and stickers. Make sure it looks professional, otherwise you will have a hard time getting people to take you serious.
- Print out business cards and flyers, give them to all your existing members and flyer the shit out of cars.
- Spam nationwide forums
I say nationwide, because most national forum sites have a regional section, and their members are always looking for local guys to talk with... (this does run you the risk of getting booted off their site) We found, that if you don't put the full URL in the post, when trying to get people over the MOD's won't 1 - Delete your thread, 2 - Lock it, 3- drop the ban hammer. an example: utahgmperformance dot com.
- Stick an Add up on craigslist
- make some promotional video’s… that spring video of ours has generated a TON of interest in our site.
- Since you guys are a brand wide site, you may find it easier to focus on one type of car at a time. Create a base of members... remember the more members you have the easier time you will have getting the word out.
-last and the most important... Keep your members interested, word spreads very quick when people are having fun... Group photo shoots help a ton! also, if there is a local "car gathering" try to make regular appearances... and make your group / site well known. Being active if KEY.
Let me know if you have any questions I'll be more than willing to help out any way I can.
